Halal Restaurant Week in Korea

As I'm living in Indonesia where the majority of the population is Muslim, "halal" food is the biggest concern when they want to visit Korea. Thankfully, Korea now put special attention on this issue. Korea starts to develop its Halal Market and become a Muslim friendly country. If we may see in the past one year, there are a lot of snacks that has been registered to get halal certificates. Moreover, there are also so many campaigns toward "halal" related stuffs and one of the biggest one is happening right now called HALAL RESTAURANT WEEK.
HALAL RESTAURANT WEEK is an event by Korea Tourism Organization that be held in Korea from November 1st to December 10th to accommodate Muslim tourists in terms of their need in finding which restaurant is Muslim friendly. Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) provides a booklet which has a lot of coupons (discounts, buy one get one, free food and drinks, etc). It is easy to get the booklet, download the ticket in Visit Korea Website then exchange it in Incheon airport, Insadong, several pointed tourist information center, and of course KTO office in some of Muslim majority countries such as Indonesia.

The participated restaurants are divided into 4 categories such as :
1. Halal certified
Halal certified restaurants that has been issued by Korea Muslim Federation
2. Self certified
Restaurants owned by Muslim
3. Muslim friendly
Restaurants that provide halal food but still selling alcoholic drinks
4. Pork free
Restaurants without halal food but also there is no food contains pork sold.
